V.S. Kochubey's mansion (4 Radishchev Street), used as a country house of the Leningrad Oblast Committee of the Communist Party of the USSR, was given to the Educational Centre for Training Managers of the system of the St Petersburg State Technical University.

Yury Parfyenovich Nikiforov was elected the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Soviet of the Pushkin District, since 1991 Nikiforov has been working as the Head of the District Administration. In total Yury Parfyenovich Nikiforov worked in the executive administration during eighteen years and he was awarded the Order of "The Friendship of Nations", he was the winner of the competition "Russian Mayor - 95"; in 2000 he was conferred the title "Honorary Citizen of Pushkin Town". Ivan Petrovich Sautov was unanimously elected the Director of the State Museum-Reserve "Tsarskoye Selo" by the general meeting of the staff; for his successful work Sautov was awarded many government orders (including the Orders of "Friendship" and "For Services before the Fatherland" of the 4th degree), the State Prize in 1996, the Premium of the Government of the Russian Federation in 2006; since 1993 Sautov was the Honoured Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation; he was conferred the title "Honorary Citizen of Pushkin Town". 8 June. The Divine Liturgy was performed in the Cathedral of St. Sophia, the first church given to the Russian Orthodox Church after stopping the policy of theomachy in Russia. By 2009 eight Orthodox churches have been opened in the town.

23 July. On the day of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Anna Akhmatova the commemorative plaque was opened on the building of the Mariyinskaya Gymnasium; the exposition devoted to the memory of "Tsarskoye Selo Muse" was opened in the "Museum of History of Pushkin Town". The Tsarskoye Selo Art Prize for creative contribution in the Russian culture and arts development was established. Founders of the Prize were the All_Russian Museum of A.S. February. The First Tsarskoye Selo Museum Workers Conference was held in the Stasov Hall of the Catherine Palace, since this year the conference was held annually.

Georgy Yevgenyevich Belyayev, who worked actively on the restoration of the after-war town, the director of the State Museum-Reserve from 1965 untill 1986, awarded the Order of the October Revolution for his work in the museum, the chairman of the local government of the catchment area No.6, was conferred the title "Honorary Citizen of Pushkin Town".

Tatyana Aleksandrovna Sveshnikova, who worked in the town as a doctor at first, then as the head physician of the children's hospital and the head physician of children's clinic since 1947 untilln 1972, was conferred the title "Honorary Citizen of Pushkin Town". From 1961 Sveshnikova was elected a deputy of the District Soviet of four convocations. In 1966 Sveshnikova was awarded the Order "The Sign of the Honour".

July. The first stage of the restoration of the Chinese Village (16 objects) was completed on the money of the Danish investor taking into consideration the lease for 49 years.

August. The exposition "The Memoirs in the Alexander Palace" was opened in the left restored semicircle of the Alexander Palace.

The year of the 200th birthday of A.S. Pushkin was announced by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as the International Year of Pushkin. 6 June was approved as a State Holiday, A.S. Pushkin's Day of Russia, according to the decree of the President of Russia. Pushkin's assembly and presenting Pushkin's Jubilee Medals was held in the Lyceum Museum. The granite slab-stone "Genio loci" ("To the Genius of Place") was put near the House of Directors of the Lyceum on the corner of Sadovaya Street and Litseysky Line.

17 September. The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II visited the Chapel of St. Prince Igor of Chernigov and the Catherine Palace in Pushkin Town.

"Okean-Trading" limited company producing fish products in vacuum packing began to operate. Its production volume was about Rb 200,000,000 per year.

Pushkin Town schools' graduates got 22 golden medals and 35 silver ones.
