He graduated from the department of history and philosophy of Petersburg University with a ... | | ANNENSKY Innokenty Fedorovich (1856-1909, St. Petersburg), poet, playwright, translator, critic, and teacher promoted to Actual Civil Counsellor in 1896. He graduated from the department of history and philosophy of Petersburg University with a major in literature in 1879. He served in the Ministry of Public Education until his dying day. He was the director of the Eighth Petersburg Gymnasium at 8 Ninth Line of Vasilievsky Island in 1893-96 and director of Nicholas Gymnasium at 12 Naberezhnaya Street, Tsarskoe Selo, where he also lived from 1896 to 1905. Among his students were N. S. Gumilev, D. I. Kokovtsev, and N. N. Punin. He started to appear in print with his reviews, critical essays, and educational articles from the early 1880s. He published his first collected verses, Quiet Songs, under the name of Nic. T-o in 1904 and the second collected verses, Cypress Casket, published after his death in 1910. He was the first to translate Euripides’ tragedies into Russian completely in verse. Ancient Greek motifs affected Annensky’s own dramas including Famira-kifared, Laodamia, etc. He wrote collected critical essays Book of Reflections in 1906 and a Second Book of Reflections in 1909. He was one of the founders of Apollon journal in 1909 and a member of the Society of Literature Enthusiasts founded by the magazine editors. Annensky played a key role in Russian literature of the 1910s, his works having a major impact on Gumilev, A. A. Akhmatova, O. E. Mandelstam, B. L. Pasternak, G. V. Adamovich, et al. He last lived at 11 Zakharzhevskaya Street in Tsarskoe Selo, the house is not preserved. He died of a heart failure on the stairs of the Tsarskoe Selo Station (today, Vitebsky Railway Station). In 1900-03 he was in Tiflis, then returned to Tsarskoe Selo, graduated (1906) from Nikolaevsky Gymnasium (director I.F. Annensky) (12 Naberezhnaya Street; memorial plaque). Studied at Sorbonne (1906-08) and at the Faculty of Law and the History and Philological Faculty of Petersburg University (1908-11 and from 1912; he didn't finish his courses). In his first collections of poems The Way of Conquistadors (1905), Romantic Flowers (1908), The Pearls (1910) - the way from Symbolism to the new original poetic style can be traced. He travelled to Africa four times during the period of 1908-13. In 1910 he married A.A. Gorenko (Akhmatova); until 1916 lived mainly in Tsarskoe Selo (Malaya Street, the building has not been preserved, present building 57); from 1912 also in St. Petersburg (17 Tuchkov Lane). In 1911 he founded and headed the so-called Guild of Poets, from which a new poetic movement - Acmeism grew a year later. The author of various collections: Alien Sky (1912), The Quiver (1915), Bonfire (1918), The Tent, The Pillar of Fire (both in 1921), To a Blue Star (1923, published posthumously). In 1909-17 he edited the Letters about Russian Poetry column (separate edition 1923) of Apollon journal. Wrote a number of dramatical pieces. His war experience (when the World War I of 1914-18 broke out, he volunteered to Uhlan Regiment, then 5th Hussar Regiment, awarded two St. George crosses) was reflected in Notes of a Cavalryman. In 1918-21 he worked for World Literature Publishing House, translated, lectured in various universities and literary studios. Took part in the functioning of the House of Arts (where he lived). In 1921 he was elected Chairman of Petrograd Department of All-Russian Union of Poets. Gumilev was arrested on a fabricated charge by the Petrograd Military Organisation on 24 August 1921 - sentenced to death, executed by shooting in Kovalevsky Forest near Petrograd. The area consists of 35 hectares. It has existed from 1785. It is named after the Kazan Church and Burial Vault (1785-1790), built over the crypt of A.D. Lanskoy (1758-1784), who held the favour of Empress Catherine II. The mausoleum, bell tower and gates at the fence have all survived. To the South of the Orthodox Kazanskoe Cemetery sections for other denominations are situated, including the Lutheran, Muslim, and Jewish sections, which were later united. In 1914-1916, the Communal Cemetery for Soldiers was arranged in the cemetery"s northwest section (not preserved). Common graves and graves of participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 were placed in the eastern part. The high Yuryevsky Princes family crypt has survived (1879, Y.F. Bruni), as has the Orlov-Davydov Counts rotunda-mausoleum (1910, A.A. Grubbe). Also buried at Kazanskoe cemetery are the poet I.F. Annensky, artist P.P. Chistyakov, Lithuanian poet Y. The project of converting the barrack into the almshouse with a domestic church was developed by I.A. Monighetti. The construction was directed by A.F. Vidov in 1863-1865, but then building was stopped in connection with the money problems. In 1869 according to the Emperor’s order the building was allowed to rebuilt as a man gymnasium. The gymnasium was named after Emperor Nicholas Pavlovich and in the memory of dead Tsesarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich, the inscription on the memorial plaque placed on the façade informed about it. The solemn ceremony of the opening of the Gymnasium took place in the presence of Alexander II and august persons on 8 September 1870 in the Town Council hall. The Gymnasium became famous for its teachers and pupils, among which there was the poet I.F. Annensky who headed the gymnasium and lived here since 1896 until 1905. N.N. Gumilyev, V.A. In 1899, when the 100th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin was celebrated, the special committee was founded, it began to collect money to a monument and announced the competition for the best design of the monument. The poet I.F. Annensky was the head of this committee and he suggested the quotes of A.S. Pushkin's poems for the inscriptions on the pedestal of the monument. Sculptor R. Bach, a citizen of Pushkin Town, was the winner of this competition. The laying of the monument was made on 26 May 1899, the birthday of A.S. Pushkin. Casting of the monument was made by the firm "N. Stange", at the art bronze factory. The cast iron railings was constructed shortly after opening the monument . The monument was carefully took down and it was buried in the Lyceun Garden during the first days of the Great Patriotic War. In May 1945 the monument was installed on the foundation. The needed restoration work was completed at the same time. The height of the monument is 1.9 metre, the height of the pedestal is 1.1 metre. The coronation of Emperor Nicholas I took place in the Dormition Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. The Palace electric power station was constructed (architect S.A. Danini). The inner electric equipment was installed by the prominent electric-engineer L.R. Shvede who became the first director of the electric power station. The electric power station began to work on 8 November 1898 (its present address is 3 Tserkovnaya Street). A.R. Bach took up the post of the architect of the Palace Board. His appartment was placed in the house at the corner of Leontyevskaya Street and Srednyaya Street. А.R. Bach was buried in the Kuzminsky Cemetery, his grave was restored in 2007 . The autumn. I.F. The rally of striking sales assistants - including Gusterin's shop, Filippov's and Gollerbach's bakeries, who set up economic claims for their masters - took place in Sobornaya (Cathedral) Square at the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant Arcade) that was closed in the connection with the strike.
